Most of the elderly women whose families have been killed must fend for themselves. It is very difficult for them to go into the bush to look for roots, because they are weak from starvation. They told me they were hungry and asked if I could give them some food. I had none to give and found it difficult to eat later that evening when I thought of them in the safety of my hotel.
